ARTIST NOTES: The ceramic plate was painted in ultra marine blue and white in a circular movement to describe the pattern.Light to dark yellow, blue, green and with highly and shadows were added to the plate. The right side of the background is a cool alirizon which is a mixture of purple, black and caduim red.The left drape is a mixture of winsdor blue, cad yellow and a touch black for the darker tone. The shadow behind the plate is crimson, blue and black added to the mixture for dark folds. Brass jug is done in burnt sienna and highlighted in cadmium yellow and pure white. Onions were painted with similar colors to the background but with more red than blue. Orange was also added, then white with touch of pink for highlights.Dark colors in the onions are repeated as shadows in the folds of cadmium yellow cloth. Windsor blue and white were used for the table cloth. The small grey and purple bowl is the lowest thing on the canvas.More pure white as well as a little cad yellow for highlights on jug and plate.Touches of light cadmium orange to reflect the shell on the jug. I have been experimenting merging the background drapes with foreground blue table cloth.
