ARTIST NOTES: 'Goanna at Edwing Reserve' was drawn with black ink pen. I started sketching the creature when I saw him at that reserve.I had to stop and quickly took some photos before he ran away. He came back and I was more interested in watching him rather than sketching. I relied on my beautiful memory of the goanna crawling up the tree and the photographs to do a finished drawing. To capture strong darks against light I used few lines at the top of the tree trunk. Leaving white paper around the subject also contributes to light against dark tones.
