I admire and am inspired by the beauty of the world as it is. It is the technical accuracy and strength of photography as a documentary device that motivates me to use a camera. Careful composition, natural looking colours and tones, and graphic light and shadow speak to me. I hope my work inspires others to see the beauty in our surroundings, and explore the beauty of the night.
Most of my work has been of suburban Melbourne, however I had started moving into rural Victoria before the pandemic hit. The story of our communities and culture are baked into our surroundings, and at night the hard light of the streetlamp brings that out for me. I feel there are many stories here that are overlooked in photography.
While I had a basement darkroom while in high school, and I started out doing long exposure night photography on film, I use digital cameras now.
I am enamoured with big print photography. My father, a professional photographer, fostered my love for photography, which starting by playing with photo paper and darkroom equipment as a toddler.
All edition sizes refer to the total number of printed impressions, at any size.
